The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Upchurch Vineyard is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of blackcurrants, crème de cassis, licorice, subtle cigar ash and a judicious framing of new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, richly tannic and layered, with a deep core of dark fruit, juicy balancing acids and a serious structural chassis. The upside here appears to be considerable, so cellar it for another 4 or 5 years, then follow it for two decades.

The aromas offer appealing notes of dried and fresh herbs along with cherry and dried orange rind and scorched earth. The palate is packed full of rich fruit flavors surrounded by firm, slightly dry tannins and tart acids. The flavors stretch out on the finish. It has enough structure to go the distance.
