Opening in the glass with notes of plums, dark berry fruit, dried herbs and spices, the 2019 Coutet is medium-bodied, velvety and succulent, with lively acids and powdery tannins. It's nicely balanced, seemingly picked at somewhat less advanced maturity than some of its neighbors, and will likely put on mid-palate weight with a little bottle age.

A forward and expressive offering, with cherry and plum pâte de fruit notes leading the way, while light vanilla and red licorice hints line the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2027. 4,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.
