The rich wood and fruit of this wine already show good balance. The estate, owned by Bordeaux negociant Dourthe, is now on excellent form with this structured wine offering concentration and long-term aging. The tannins and the dry core from roughly equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and a pinch of Petit Verdot promise great potential. Drink from 2025.

The 2015 Château Le Boscq was one of the standouts in my Cru Bourgeois tasting and this cuvee comes from a 28-hectare estate in the northern part of the Médoc planted to 48% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with around 4% Cabernet Franc. This beautiful, medium to full-bodied, balanced 2015 offers textbook Saint-Estèphe notes of ripe black fruits, tobacco, and damp earth. It's not a massive wine by any stretch, yet has terrific purity, density, and length, with nicely integrated acidity. Give it a year or three and enjoy through 2030.

The 2015 Le Boscq has an attractive and quite floral bouquet with raspberry jam and wild strawberry aromas, becoming more floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, but I feel this becomes quite pinched toward the finish and leaves you wanting for more. This actually showed better just after bottling, whereas it chimes more with its rather mediocre performance from barrel. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

The 2015 le Boscq is scented of red berries and plums with earthy hints. Medium-bodied, it's smartly made with nice balance and lovely character but it's a little lean and light.

A core of red currant and damson plum fruit is lined with taut iron and sanguine streaks. Shows a light cedar shading through the finish. Best from 2020 through 2027. 6,750 cases made.
