Very Sangiovese, this red combines both fruit and savory elements -- cherry, strawberry, hibiscus, wet hay, iron and tobacco -- with a firm structure. Expressive, balanced, vibrant and long, with stiff tannins on the finish. Best from 2025 through 2042.

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is remarkably pretty with a fruit-forward bouquet of wild strawberries, sweet rose and cinnamon spice. This is softly textured, with vibrant acidity that lends a juicy character as pepper-tinged red berries and sweet herbal tones resonate throughout. The palate is left watering, as a tug of silty tannins and a note of citrus-tinged sour cherry slowly fades. After a short stay in the cellar this zesty effort will provide gobs of pleasure.
